'Adult baby diaper lover' admits dumping soiled nappies at nurseries (2025)

An 'adult diaper lover' terrorised local nurseries by dumping soiled nappies outside their gates.

Abbi Taylor, 46, also known as Martin Tarling, identifies as a woman and finds 'comfort' in climbing into clinical waste bins.

Taylor also smears excrement onto milk bottles and onto the walls of nurseries, prosecutors said.

For the staff at the nurseries, the six year ordeal dating back to 2019 was 'horrifying' and left them feeling 'anxious and uncomfortable' according to Recorder Richard Herrmann, sitting at Newcastle Crown Court.

The court heard Taylor is thought to be 'regressing' to childhood and searching for a 'gentler more carefree time'.

Bemused staff at Cleadon nursey caught sight of Taylor's legs sticking out of a bin in May 2023 close to where nappies were left.

Jane Foley, prosecuting, said the manager at a South Shields nursery reported seeing someone rooting around inside' one of the clinical waste bins in January 2023.

While staff at a nursery in Jarrow initially believed a rival business might be dumping waste on their premises, when they found up to 50 soiled nappies on site.

It emerged during the hearing that Taylor was not supposed to go near any nursery owing to a banning order imposed by Nottingham Magistrates' Court in April 2023.

Nick Lane, defending, said the case was highly unusual, and referred to his client as a woman.

He said: 'Miss Taylor accepts going to childcare settings and entering the bins... in order to gain comfort.'

He said the defendant had experienced trauma earlier in life, adding: 'It seems through age regression Miss Taylor says she found her release, her copingmechanism.'

Mr Lane added that his client has questioned their gender for more than three decades.

He said: 'It is important to observe that this is not a recent development, because that is a concern that has been in the public arena for some time.

'The first recorded reference to this within the medical records goes back to 1993.'

The court was also told Taylor's Facebookprofile referred to being an 'adult baby diaper lover' and whenquestioned by police Taylor admitted to going into a bin 'to sleep and find comfort'.

But Miss Foley said Taylor 'flagrantly disregarded the law' by repeatedly dumping soiled nappies at nurseries.

Reading from the victim impact statement of a nursery boss she said the behaviour was 'really unsettling' adding: 'You never knew what you were going to find.'

Staff at one nursery were so concerned they went in pairs when going outside to put waste into the bins.

Recorder Herrmann acknowledged Taylor's troubled childhood, saying: 'Taylor has a very unfortunate history.'

Taylor from Newmarket Walk, South Shields, South Tyneside, pleaded guilty to three counts of dumping bags of toxic materials - nappies containing human waste - at nurseries in the local area.

The sentence will be passed on Thursday.
